Our client, a gold explorer and producer, is seeking a Core Logging Geologist for an initial 3-month contract to cover a period of leave commencing on 01/07/26.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will support ongoing exploration and resource definition activities across the operation. This role will suit someone with strong core logging experience who enjoys working closely with drill core, maintaining high-quality geological data, and contributing to a collaborative geology team.
Key responsibilities will include geological logging, sampling, data management and providing general geological support to exploration and resource definition programmes. As work progresses, there will also be opportunities to broaden your exposure across other aspects of the geology function.
Requirments:
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience with geological logging software
- An understanding of Eastern Goldfields geology and Archaean gold lode systems
- An aptitude for exploration concepts and techniques
- Safety-conscious mentality and ability to demonstrate it
- Self-motivated, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Able to physically meet the requirements for the position, including standing for extended periods and moving core boxes
- Ability to work on a remote site and on a rotation-based schedule
Position Duties:
- Logging key components of resource definition, core samples specified by the Senior Geologist, at a minimum rate of 100m/day
- Conducting visual logs including mineral identification, alteration, structural analysis & geotechnical properties
- Transcribe findings into computer data handling systems (Geobank)
- Adhering to proper sampling procedures and protocols
- Collaborate & work with the mine geology team to advance projects & understandings
- Assist in the evaluation of all geological data
- Attend meetings and contribute as required
