We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Engineer to join a high-performing underground mining operation. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and commercially sound delivery of underground activities through strong leadership, contractor management, and operational governance.
About the Role
Reporting to site leadership, you will play a key role in supporting underground operations by driving safety, performance, and continuous improvement across multiple work fronts. You will work closely with contractors, site-based leadership, and corporate support teams to ensure operational, financial, and safety objectives are achieved.
About You
- Degree qualified in Mining Engineering or a related discipline;
- Significant experience in underground mining operations, ideally in an operational or contracts-focused engineering role;
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, contractor management, and safety systems;
- Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and commercial performance;
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills;
- Demonstrated leadership capability with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.

Position Duties:
- Demonstrate full compliance with OHS and Environmental Management Systems, actively leading and participating in initiatives, toolbox meetings, investigations, training, audits, and implementation of site systems;
- Manage and support performance management for direct reports, ensuring objectives and targets are SMART and aligned with operational outcomes;
- Oversee and manage multiple underground and surface-based contractors, ensuring safe execution of work and alignment with site priorities;
- Provide effective contract administration, including scope of work control, compliance monitoring, variation management, and performance evaluation;
- Critically analyse contractor and project performance to identify and mitigate emerging safety, operational, and financial risks;
- Manage the financial performance of contract works, including cost reporting, forecasting, monthly accruals, and budget variance management;
- Maintain clear and effective communication with site leadership, operations teams, corporate support functions, and key business partners.
