LD18373 Senior Open Pit Geologist (Contract)

We currently have an urgent requirement for a Contract Senior Open Pit Geologist to join a new open pit gold operation in the Murchison region of Western Australia. This is an immediate start, short-term contract working within a small, collaborative geology team supporting the start-up phase of a new mining operation.

This role will work closely with site geology and mining teams to ensure strong geological control, accurate interpretation, and optimal ore recovery as the operation ramps up.

Requirements

Strong open pit operational geology experience;
Demonstrated background in gold operations;
Experience with grade control, reconciliation, and ore control processes;
Ability to work closely with mining operations in active pits;
Comfortable working within a small site-based team environment;
Manual driver’s licence (required).

Position Duties:

Provide senior geological support to open pit mining operations;
Oversee and guide grade control processes within active mining areas;
Validate and refine geological interpretations to support mining decisions;
Conduct reconciliation reviews between geological models and production outcomes;
Work closely with mining teams to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution;
Improve confidence in short-term production forecasts;
Mentor and support site geology staff.
