We are currently seeking an Open Pit Production Geologist to join a WA-based gold operation on an 8/6 roster. Reporting to the Senior Geologist, you will provide technical support to the geology department and play a key role in ore control, grade management, and production outcomes.
This position will focus on the accurate collection and interpretation of geological information while supporting mine production to ensure quality standards are maintained.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- Minimum 2 years’ geology experience, including at least 1 year in an open pit mining environment (gold preferred).
- Proficiency in grade control practices, RC drilling, and data collection.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Manual driver’s licence (4WD training desirable).
- Ability to meet site pre-employment requirements (medical, police clearance, work rights).

Position Duties:
- Collection and processing of Grade Control samples and data.
- Conduct ore block design, mark-outs, and ore spotting to optimise recovery.
- Work closely with mining engineers to design and review blast hole patterns, including Blast Movement Monitoring (BMM) setup, pickup, and post-blast ore block reconciliation.
- Perform pit mapping and provide geological input into short-term mine planning.
- Monitor and report on mining compliance (overmining/undermining) and provide timely feedback to the production team.
- Manage ore stockpiles at pit and ROM, ensuring effective blending and feed to the crusher and mill.
- Mentor and assist Graduate Geologists, Pit Technicians, and Samplers in day-to-day tasks.
- Uphold site safety standards and contribute to a positive team culture.
