Our client is a successful and growing gold producer with established operations and an expanding portfolio of exploration and development projects across Western Australia.
They are seeking an experienced Mine Geology Superintendent to lead the geology function at site and provide strong technical and operational leadership across the mining operation.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced mining geologist who can balance technical excellence, operational delivery and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the site-based geology team.
- Provide strategic and operational geological leadership to the mining operation.
- Oversee grade control, production geology, drilling, sampling and geological interpretation.
- Ensure geological models and interpretations accurately support mine planning and production.
- Manage resource-to-mine reconciliation and identify opportunities to improve ore recovery and grade performance.
- Provide geological input into short-, medium- and long-term mine planning.
- Oversee geological QA/QC, database management and reporting.
- Manage geological drilling programs and external contractors.
- Monitor geological performance and ensure key production targets are supported.
- Develop, mentor and coach Geologists and junior technical team members.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources and priorities.
- Work closely with Mining, Planning, Survey, Processing and senior site leadership.
- Identify opportunities for resource growth and operational improvement.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance and environmental standards.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in Geology, Applied Geology or Geoscience.
- 8+ years' mining geology experience.
- Significant experience within open-pit gold mining.
- Previous experience in a Superintendent, Senior/Principal Geologist or Geology Management position.
- Proven experience leading and developing geology teams.
- Strong technical knowledge across grade control, production geology and resource definition.
- Experience with geological modelling, reconciliation and resource-to-mine processes.
- Strong understanding of mine planning and operational geology.
- Experience managing drilling programs, contractors and geological budgets.
- Strong knowledge of Leapfrog, Surpac, Vulcan, Micromine or similar software.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous WA mining and FIFO experience is highly desirable.
