Our client is a successful and growing gold producer with a strong presence in Western Australia and an expanding portfolio of mining and exploration assets.
They are seeking an experienced Senior Mine Geologist to join their technical services team and play a key role in supporting mining operations, geological interpretation and resource development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Geologist who enjoys working closely with mining teams and wants to take a greater level of ownership over geological outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level geological support to mining operations.
- Lead and oversee grade control activities, including drilling, sampling and interpretation.
- Complete geological mapping, ore mark-ups and structural interpretation.
- Manage and interpret geological data to support short- and medium-term mine planning.
- Contribute to resource modelling, geological interpretation and reconciliation.
- Provide geological input into mine design and production planning.
- Monitor orebody performance and identify opportunities to improve grade and recovery.
- Review and maintain geological models, databases and QA/QC processes.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and graduate geologists.
- Work closely with Mining Engineering, Planning, Survey and Production teams.
- Contribute to monthly reporting, reconciliation and forecasting.
- Assist with identifying further resource and exploration opportunities.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site standards.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in Geology, Applied Geology or Geoscience.
- 5+ years' relevant mining geology experience, preferably within open-pit gold operations.
- Strong experience in grade control and production geology.
- Proven ability to interpret geological, structural and assay data.
- Experience with RC drilling, sampling, geological mapping and ore mark-up.
- Strong understanding of reconciliation and resource-to-mine processes.
- Experience with Leapfrog, Surpac, Vulcan, Micromine or similar software.
- Strong technical reporting and communication skills.
- Previous experience mentoring junior geologists.
- A practical and solutions-focused approach to operational geology.
- Strong safety leadership and the ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams.
