An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join a growing underground gold operation in Western Australia. This role offers the chance to provide technical leadership while supporting the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan within a high-performing mining team.

This is more than a traditional technical engineering role. The successful candidate will act as the back-to-back for the Alternate Underground Manager, making it an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to progress into operational leadership. As such, applicants must hold a current WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency and demonstrate the capability to fulfil statutory responsibilities when required.

About You

  • Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Current WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (essential).
  • Extensive underground hard rock mining experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership role.
  • Strong proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, MineSched, Vulcan or similar.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach and influence operational teams.
  • Sound understanding of underground mining legislation, statutory obligations and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full Australian working rights.

Position Duties:

  • Develop and optimise short, medium and long-term underground mine plans.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly production schedules.
  • Monitor mining performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, safety and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the mine engineering team.
  • Work collaboratively with Mining, Geology and Operational teams to ensure effective execution of the mine plan.
  • Support drill and blast, ventilation, ground support and production planning activities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and Life of Mine planning.
  • Ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
  • Provide operational leadership and act as the delegate for the Alternate Underground Manager as required.
