An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join a growing underground gold operation in Western Australia. This role offers the chance to provide technical leadership while supporting the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan within a high-performing mining team.
This is more than a traditional technical engineering role. The successful candidate will act as the back-to-back for the Alternate Underground Manager, making it an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to progress into operational leadership. As such, applicants must hold a current WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency and demonstrate the capability to fulfil statutory responsibilities when required.
About You
- Degree in Mining Engineering.
- Current WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (essential).
- Extensive underground hard rock mining experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership role.
- Strong proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, MineSched, Vulcan or similar.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach and influence operational teams.
- Sound understanding of underground mining legislation, statutory obligations and risk management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Position Duties:
- Develop and optimise short, medium and long-term underground mine plans.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly production schedules.
- Monitor mining performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, safety and cost efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the mine engineering team.
- Work collaboratively with Mining, Geology and Operational teams to ensure effective execution of the mine plan.
- Support drill and blast, ventilation, ground support and production planning activities.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and Life of Mine planning.
- Ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
- Provide operational leadership and act as the delegate for the Alternate Underground Manager as required.
