Our client, a leading Western Australian underground mining operation is seeking an experienced Alternate Underground Manager to support the safe and efficient delivery of underground mining activities.
Reporting to the Underground Manager, this position will provide operational leadership across underground production, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe production outcomes while developing strong relationships with operational teams and contractors
About You:
- Previous experience in an Alternate Underground Manager, Underground Manager, or senior underground leadership role
- Strong underground hard rock mining experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead production teams and manage underground mining activities
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, safety systems, and compliance requirements
- Proven experience working within a high-performing mining environment
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Essential Requirements:
- WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate (or eligibility to obtain)
- Significant underground mining experience
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and mining regulations
- Ability to work FIFO on an 8:6 roster
Position Duties:
- Provide visible safety leadership and promote a strong safety culture across underground operations;
- Assist with the management of underground mining activities to achieve production, cost, and development targets;
- Support compliance with statutory obligations, mining regulations, and site standards;
- Lead and mentor underground supervisors and operational teams;
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and operational performance;
- Work collaboratively with technical services, maintenance, and support departments;
- Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions where required.
