Our client, a leading global gold producer, is seeking an experienced Senior Underground Mine Planning Engineer to join its high-performing Technical Services team at a large, well-established underground gold operation in Western Australia.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled underground planning engineer to step into a senior role with genuine technical influence and leadership responsibility. Working closely with the Superintendent – Mine Planning, you will help optimise underground mine performance, deliver high-quality planning outcomes and mentor developing engineers within a well-resourced and collaborative planning team.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Superintendent – Mine Planning, you will be responsible for delivering medium-term mine planning, mine design, scheduling and evaluation activities that support the safe and efficient extraction of underground gold resources. You'll collaborate with operational and technical stakeholders to develop practical mining strategies that maximise value while maintaining operational flexibility.
This position offers the opportunity to influence strategic planning decisions, mentor developing engineers and contribute to the ongoing success of a modern underground mining operation.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering.
- Extensive underground hard rock mining experience across mine planning, scheduling and mine design.
- Strong technical capability using Deswik CAD, Deswik SO and Deswik IS.
- Experience in underground production, ventilation, projects, paste fill and mine scheduling.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience within a technical team.
- A First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded, although not essential.

Position Duties:
- Develop and maintain medium-term underground mine plans, schedules and forecasts.
- Prepare detailed underground mine designs, including development, stoping, ventilation, backfill and supporting infrastructure.
- Evaluate multiple mining scenarios and provide recommendations that support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Identify risks, constraints and critical path activities while developing practical extraction strategies.
- Work closely with Mining, Geology, Survey and Operational teams to ensure mine plans are achievable and aligned with production objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to planning engineers within the Technical Services team.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes and mine design practices.
- Promote and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence and company values.
