Our client, an Australian gold mining company, is currently seeking a Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer for their flagship Western Australian operation.
You will be responsible for planning and directing various engineering aspects of the open-pit mining operations.
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified Mining Engineer or equivalent:
- Experience in mine planning and production roles;
- Competent use of MineSched and Datamine Studio software or similar;
- Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate (desirable);
- Manual Drivers’ License;
- National Police Clearance.
Position Duties:
- Deliver timely and accurate mine designs, plans and schedules to optimize extraction of the ore and development of the ore deposits;
- Ensure all planning and production tasks for the mine are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the plan;
- Monitor pit development to ensure Drill and Blast activities are appropriately scheduled and implemented when and where required and with consideration of associated cost impacts;
- Design and review Drill and Blast patterns to ensure suitability for mining purposes, optimising outcomes for both productivity and cost efficiency, and delivered in a timely manner;
- Track Contractor performance across Drill and Blast implementation, QA/QC, physical performance and cost control;
- Develop daily, weekly, and fortnightly mine designs, plans, and schedules and assist with the implementation of these plans and ensuring they are clearly communicated to the mine operations team;
- Monitor blast performance with an emphasis on minimising blast-related wall damage;
- Report and communicate any technical or operational issues and provide recommendations (including developing mine plans, designs, or tools) for remedial actions.
Experience
Minimum 5+ years experience working preferably on a gold operation.
