Our client, a large gold producer is seeking an Underground Mining Manager on their operation that produces more than 250,000 ounces of gold each year. 

Reporting to the Manager you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the underground operations to meet safety, production and costs targets of the operation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Tertiary Degree in Mining Engineering;
  • WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership, managing training/development, career progression and performance management of personnel.

Position Duties:

  • Consistently lead and act in a manner that demonstrates commitment to the safety culture and performance;

  • Manage and support the performance of all direct reports to ensure they can deliver expected outcomes;
  • Manage and oversee the production and development activities of the mine, taking into consideration the long-term requirements of the mine as well as responding to the daily requirements, to achieve the budget;
  • Monitor the completion of works to ensure that they are undertaken by the expectation detailed in the plan and implement timely remedial action when required;
  • Monitor development, stoping and mining projects’ progress against weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets;
  • Maximise mined recovery and minimise dilution in stoping activities;
  • Instigate improvements and ensure requirements and proposals of the underground operations are considered by the Mining Manager by openly promoting, supporting, and sharing suggestions and ideas;

  • Oversee the preparation of schedules of mining activities to create accurate forecasts and budgets by ensuring that the development schedule matches the production requirements;
  • Support a learning organisation & diverse thinking to meet business requirements.
