Our client, a successful Australian gold producer, is looking for a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join their team at one of their Western Australian gold operations.

This company has multiple mining operations, both open pit and underground as well as a number of satellite pits. This role will be reporting to the Underground Mining Superintendent. working closely with the underground mining contractor providing high level of technical advise, mine planning, design, scheduling and costing input and direction for the operation. 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering;
  • Extensive underground mining operational experience;
  • WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (preferred but not essential);
  • Advanced computer skills for mine planning, Drill and Blast, Scheduling e.g. Surpac, Deswik.

Position Duties:

  • Short to medium term mine planning activities;
  • Monitoring progress against plan/budget and report significant deviations;
  • Examining mining methods and equipment to improve performance;
  • Overseeing and approving drill and blast plans;
  • Monitoring, and simulation of, mine ventilation and dewatering network;
  • Supervising the activities of lesser experienced mining engineers and other technical staff;
  • Ensure development and infrastructure designs are practical and cost effective;
  • Develop and maintain electronic and other filing systems for mine planning design;
  • Conduct project work as directed by the Underground Mining Manager or General Manager as required.
