Our client is a respected Australian gold producer with multiple underground mining areas operating and under development within an established regional hub. As the underground portfolio expands, this position offers strong exposure to both day-to-day operational planning and future mine growth.

The Opportunity

As part of the site-based Technical Services team, you will develop practical short- and medium-term plans and schedules, working closely with Underground Management, Production, Geology and Survey to translate mine strategy into achievable operational outcomes.

This position would suit a Mining Engineer who combines strong planning and design capability with practical underground experience and enjoys working close to the operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop robust short- and medium-term underground mine plans and schedules.
  • Complete stope, development and infrastructure designs.
  • Sequence development and production activities to support safe, achievable targets.
  • Monitor plan compliance, investigate variances and recommend practical adjustments.
  • Incorporate geological, survey, safety and operational constraints into mine plans.
  • Provide clear planning guidance to underground production teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce delays and optimise mine performance.
  • Communicate plans, priorities and risks across technical and operational teams.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
  • At least five years’ underground hard-rock mining experience, preferably within Western Australian gold operations.
  • Strong short- and medium-term mine planning, scheduling and design experience.
  • Proficiency with Deswik and/or Surpac mine-planning software.
  • Practical exposure to long-hole open stoping and mechanised development.
  • Sound understanding of underground production, development and operational constraints.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop practical, achievable solutions.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working with both technical and operational teams.
  • Previous Australian mine-site and FIFO experience.
