Our client is seeking an experienced Senior/Project Resource Definition Geologist to support an established gold mining operation on a short- to medium-term contract.
This is a hands-on position focused on surface drill planning and the day-to-day management of active RC and diamond drilling programs. The successful candidate will contribute to resource definition and near-mine exploration activities designed to expand and improve confidence in the operation’s Mineral Resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate surface resource definition drilling programs
- Manage the day-to-day activities of RC and diamond drill rigs
- Liaise with drilling contractors, geological teams and site personnel
- Monitor drilling progress, productivity, costs and program priorities
- Ensure drilling activities are conducted safely and efficiently
- Review geological information and assist with drill targeting and program adjustments
- Maintain high standards of geological data collection, sampling and QA/QC
- Support geological interpretation, reporting and resource model updates
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to geologists and field personnel
- Prepare progress reports and communicate program outcomes to key stakeholder
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Geology
- Strong resource definition, mine geology or brownfields exploration experience within a gold mining environment
- Demonstrated experience planning and managing surface RC and/or diamond drilling programs
- Previous responsibility for the daily coordination of drilling contractors and field teams
- Sound understanding of sampling, QA/QC, geological data management and resource definition workflows
- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to work independently and make practical operational decisions
- Current C Class manual driver’s licence
- Previous appointment as an S26 statutory position holder is highly regarded
- Valid Australian working rights
