Our client, a well-established underground mining company in Western Australia focused on unlocking the full potential of its metal's portfolio, underpinned by a clear pathway for long-term growth, is seeking a Paste Fill Superintendent to join their team.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in underground mining operations;
- WA Underground Supervisor’s Certificate (preferred);
- Strong background in paste backfill systems and plant operations;
- Proven leadership and team development capability;
- Solid understanding of underground mining methods;
- Experience managing contractors and operational compliance;
- Proficiency in mine planning and reporting tools (e.g. Deswik, Excel, Power BI);
- Strong knowledge of WA safety regulations and legislation;
- Highly developed analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Position Duties:
- Lead, develop, and mentor paste fill operators across plant and underground teams;
- Plan and execute paste-filling schedules aligned with production and safety requirements;
- Develop and improve systems for reliable paste delivery underground;
- Monitor daily operations including batching, pumping, and stope delivery;
- Oversee design and procurement of paste infrastructure and reticulation systems;
- Ensure adherence to pressure flow models and operating limits;
- Manage paste quality testing (e.g. slump, UCS, binder content);
- Coordinate with mining, processing, and maintenance teams;
- Oversee contractor performance and compliance;
- Maintain accurate reporting on volumes, usage, and performance metrics;
- Drive continuous improvement in efficiency and cost management;
- Promote and enforce strong safety systems and culture.
