Antares maiden drilling confirms copper mineralisation at Conglomerate Creek

Antares Metals has intersected copper mineralisation in all six holes of its maiden reverse-circulation program at the Conglomerate Creek prospect, part of the company’s Mount Isa North Copper Project.

The 780m program was the first subsurface test of Target 2 within a 2km by 2.5km intrusive complex. The best reported result was 4m at 0.81 per cent copper from 84m in hole ACD002.

First test of a larger target area

Drilling intersected the same quartz-vein system mapped and sampled at surface, confirming that the mineralising system continues at depth. Other reported intervals were generally lower grade, ranging from 504ppm to 1,310ppm copper over individual composite or one-metre intervals.

Conglomerate Creek contains seven geophysical anomalies interpreted to relate to the intrusive system. Only one of those anomalies has been drilled, leaving six untested targets.

The prospect is approximately 39km from Glencore’s Mount Isa operations in an established copper district.

Why it matters

The maiden program validates the basic geological model by linking surface mineralisation with copper-bearing veins below ground. It does not yet establish an economic deposit, but it gives Antares a stronger technical basis for refining the next round of drilling.

The result is particularly relevant because Target 5, immediately north of the drilled area, has a stronger geochemical response and previously reported rock-chip grades of up to 22 per cent copper. Those surface grades are not representative of a resource, but they help prioritise follow-up targets.

Next steps

Antares is finalising geophysical work before a follow-up RC program. The company intends to use the results to sharpen targets across the remaining anomalies, including Target 5.

Field programs are also under way at Mount Isa North and at the Quinns Project in Western Australia, where a Program of Work for maiden drilling has been approved.
