13 July 2026 | Western Australia - Rox Resources has received the final major environmental approval for its 100%-owned Youanmi Gold Mine in Western Australia, allowing construction to accelerate across the project.
The company said Works Approval has been granted for the processing plant, tailings storage facility, wastewater treatment facility, power station and associated infrastructure.
EPC contractor Interquip has now mobilised to site and commenced construction works for the processing facilities. Rox said the plant is designed with a nameplate capacity of 1.0Mtpa, with first gold still targeted for mid-2027.
Managing Director and CEO Phill Wilding said the final approval means Rox is now fully permitted to execute its mine plan, with construction underway, underground drilling commenced and several activities tracking ahead of schedule.
Rox reported a cash balance of $152.7 million at 30 June 2026.
Why it matters: Youanmi is moving from development planning into full construction and mining execution. The approval of the processing plant and tailings infrastructure removes a key permitting hurdle and allows the company to accelerate site works.
The historic Youanmi Decline is progressing, while the Pollard Decline has now commenced. Together with United North, Rox said this gives the project three separate mining areas, further de-risking future ore delivery.
United North mining continues to perform ahead of the Definitive Feasibility Study schedule, with ore being mined on multiple fronts. Underground diamond drilling has also commenced to increase confidence in the ore system and support future mine planning.
Rox said long-lead mill items ordered before the Final Investment Decision are tracking on or ahead of schedule, with first steel expected on site during July.
For Western Australia’s gold sector, Youanmi adds another near-term high-grade development project, with construction, underground mining, processing infrastructure and drilling activity now all advancing together.
