MES is seeking an experienced Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer to work on a contract basis for our client, a Western Australian gold developer with a significant high-grade gold deposit. 

In this position, you will be responsible for safely managing the achievement of production and planning targets of the open pit mining operation.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary level Mining Engineering degree;
  • Quarry Managers Certificate (desirable);
  • Western Australian 'C' Class Drivers Licence;
  • Ability to work autonomously with well-developed time management skills;
  • Project/infrastructure experience;
  • Proficient using Deswik. 

Position Duties:

  • Short-Term Mine Design;
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly development and production schedules;
  • Mining evaluation, reconciliation, and reporting to achieve mining optimisation;
  • Schedule and monitor short-term planning;
  • Coordinate open pit production activities;
  • Liaise with relevant personnel to ensure production plans are executed effectively to optimise ore extraction;
  • Production Reporting;
  • Liaise with the OP mining contractor on a daily basis;
  • Monitor and assess geotechnical action plans;
  • Undertake productivity and equipment utilisation improvement studies.
