Our client is seeking a motivated Underground Mining Engineer to join their technical services team at a major gold operation in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. This role supports underground mine planning and execution, contributing to safe, efficient, and production-focused mining operations.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring a combination of technical mining knowledge and strong communication skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in underground mining operations or underground mine planning
  • Competency in mine planning software (Deswik highly regarded), CAD, and scheduling tools
  • Strong understanding of underground mining methods, sequencing, and production practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Current WA “C” class driver’s licence
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
  • Full Australian working rights

Position Duties:

  • Develop and deliver short-term underground mine plans and schedules;
  • Produce development plans, designs, and supporting technical documentation;
  • Design stopes and development layouts in line with geotechnical and production requirements;
  • Prepare weekly mine plans and schedules using mine planning software (e.g. Deswik)
  • Ensure mine plans align with medium- and long-term schedules and production targets;
  • Identify operational risks and communicate them effectively to stakeholders;
  • Support drill and blast, geology, geotechnical, and production teams with technical input;
  • Monitor plan compliance and assist with continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Contribute to safety leadership and ensure adherence to site standards and procedures.
