Our client is seeking a motivated Underground Mining Engineer to join their technical services team at a major gold operation in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. This role supports underground mine planning and execution, contributing to safe, efficient, and production-focused mining operations.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will bring a combination of technical mining knowledge and strong communication skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in underground mining operations or underground mine planning
- Competency in mine planning software (Deswik highly regarded), CAD, and scheduling tools
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, sequencing, and production practices
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Current WA “C” class driver’s licence
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
- Full Australian working rights
Position Duties:
- Develop and deliver short-term underground mine plans and schedules;
- Produce development plans, designs, and supporting technical documentation;
- Design stopes and development layouts in line with geotechnical and production requirements;
- Prepare weekly mine plans and schedules using mine planning software (e.g. Deswik)
- Ensure mine plans align with medium- and long-term schedules and production targets;
- Identify operational risks and communicate them effectively to stakeholders;
- Support drill and blast, geology, geotechnical, and production teams with technical input;
- Monitor plan compliance and assist with continuous improvement initiatives;
- Contribute to safety leadership and ensure adherence to site standards and procedures.
