Mining Employment Services is seeking an experienced Senior Open Pit Geologist for an immediate contract requirement with a new open pit gold operation in Western Australia’s Murchison region.
This is an initial 3-month contract on an 8/6 FIFO roster to Meekatharra, with an immediate start available for the right candidate.
This is a hands-on site role working as part of a small geology team and closely with the Mine Geologist and mining operations team. The Murchison region is a well-established WA gold province, with our client operating a number of established gold assets and processing hubs across the region.
The successful candidate will provide senior geological support to the open pit operation, helping ensure effective ore control, sound geological interpretation and strong alignment between geology and mining activities.
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Strong open pit geology experience;
- Previous gold mining experience;
- Grade control, ore control and reconciliation experience;
- Confidence working closely with mining and technical teams;
- Ability to work independently in a small site-based geology team;
- Current manual driver’s licence;
- Ability to complete site medical and onboarding requirements.
Position Duties:
- Providing senior geological support to active open pit mining areas;
- Overseeing grade control processes and ore control activities;
- Validating geological interpretations against active mining conditions;
- Reviewing reconciliation and short-term production outcomes;
- Working closely with mining operations to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution;
- Supporting confidence in short-term production forecasts;
- Mentoring and supporting site geology staff within a small team environment.
