An opportunity is available for experienced Field Assistants / Geological Technicians to join a well-funded exploration and mining operation working across a large-scale copper project in Western Australia.
This is a hands-on role supporting active drilling programs across both site-based and regional exploration targets, with a strong focus on sample handling, core processing, and logistics support.
The Role
Working on a 2:1 FIFO roster from Perth, you will assist the geology team with day-to-day exploration activities, including drill support, core yard operations, and sample management.
This role will suit someone reliable, physically fit, and confident working in remote environments, with experience operating machinery within a core yard setting.
About You
- 1–3+ years’ experience in a Field Assistant or Geo Tech role
- Experience working around RC and/or diamond drill rigs
- Exposure to core processing highly regarded
- Current Forklift Ticket (essential)
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in physically demanding conditions
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Current driver’s licence (manual preferred)
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
Position Duties:
- Assisting with RC and diamond drilling programs
- Core processing including metre marking, orientation lines, cutting and sampling
- RC sample collection, handling and QA/QC support
- Sorting, storing and cataloguing pulp samples and diamond core
- Core yard organisation, tray management and housekeeping
- Operating forklift to move core, samples and equipment safely
- Supporting geologists with daily field activities
- Maintaining accurate sample labelling and data records
- Adhering to site safety procedures at all times
