Our client, a gold producer experiencing unparalleled growth and offering exceptional opportunities for their employees, is currently seeking a Senior Underground Planning Engineer to join their new startup project.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in mining engineering;
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills;
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation and regulations;
  • Skilled in mine planning and scheduling software (Deswik preferred);
  • First Class Mine Managers Certificate, or experience to qualify.

Position Duties:

  • Develop and implement optimum underground development, stope designs and mining methods. Optimise equipment requirements and minimise mining costs;
  • Deliver short, medium and long term mine plans, ensuring consistency to maintain continuity of the mine planning process;
  • Prepare underground mine development and production schedules;
  • Plan and oversee the dewatering system in the mine;
  • Oversee the preparation and optimisation of drill and blast plans;
  • Monitor day to day mining operations to ensure compliance with agreed plans and quality control standards;
  • Undertake ongoing update of underground Life of Mine plan;
  • Examine mining methods and equipment to improve performance;
  • Supervise mining engineers and other technical staff in their day-to-day activities;
  • Provide mine designs and schedules for underground capital and operating cost budgets and forecasts;
  • Review underground mine planning cost reports and address any variances.
Experience
8+ years experience in underground mining operations, with 2+ years in a senior level role.
