Our client a major player in gold production is currently seeking a Senior Underground Mine Planning Engineer. Reporting to the Alternate Underground Manager, the primary role will be to lead the planning team and ensure the long-term growth and viability of rare operation hosting both gold and nickel resources. Delivering short, medium and long term mine plans and optimizing the life of mine.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering;
- First Class Mine Managers Certificate;
- First Aid Certificate (desirable);
- Competent using Deswik.
Position Duties:
- Develop and deliver 13-week plans, designs (stope, Mini-DAF/DAF, vent models), extraction notes, reconciliations, and operational reports;
- Manage databases (Plodtrack, Livemine) and oversee drill, blast, and mine reserve preparation;
- Review geotechnical reports to ensure stope compliance and highlight critical path activities for budgets, forecasts, and plans;
- Deputise as Underground Manager and handle ad hoc projects as required;
- Optimise resource use, monitor contractor performance, and train Junior Engineers in planning and technical skills;
- Prepare budgets, quarterly cost updates, and end-of-month claims;
- Calculate cut-off grades, conduct LOM gold price sensitivities, and explore cost-saving opportunities in mining methods and designs.
