We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to provide accurate and timely medium and short term mine planning systems and processes that enable the project to achieve its production targets efficiently and cost-effectively. The successful candidate will also drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall project performance.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Site Executive and collaborate closely with the Mine Manager, as well as Mining and Drilling Contractors, to ensure production goals are clearly defined, operational continuity is maintained, and safety standards are consistently upheld.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar related degree;
  • Quarry Managers Certificate (or other as approved by WorkSafe or working towards);
  • The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of stakeholders, from technical to nontechnical;
  • Proven experience in developing dig plans taking into consideration the environmental factors; 
  • ground conditions and pit design;
  • Maintain Statutory compliance with The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 ('WHS Act');
  • Demonstrated experience in open pit hard rock mining, preferably Gold;
  • Experience in the start-up of new Open Pit operations, and breadth of experience across multiple; 
  • Open Pits would be an advantage;
  • Experience using mining software, preferably Datamine, Surpac and EPS;
  • C Class driver’s licence and First Aid Certificate

Position Duties:

  • Manage the delivery of short and medium term plans;
  • Assist with management of our contractor open pit mining services team to achieve production
    targets, evaluate their performance, track trends to ensure actions are taken to correct variances and
    deliver results in a cost-effective manner;
  • Direct the open pit operations’ mining team and related contractors to execute works in line with
    contractual obligations to reach our agreed business plans;
  • Manage the business improvement governance for the operations to achieve site targets as set out
    in the strategy and business plan;
  • Ensure control and delivery of capital expenditure and project scope in line with the Capital Approval
    Process;
  • Deliver on strategy, budget costs, mine development, key infrastructure and production.
  • Understanding of the requirements of mine Safety & Health Management Systems and Principal
    Hazards that require management.
  • Provide technical support to active mining operations;
Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in open pit metals or open cut coal mining (or a combination of both)
