Tivan receives $3m Speewah grant tranche to advance DFS

A further $3 million in Australian Government critical-minerals funding has been received for the Speewah Fluorite Project, supporting a Definitive Feasibility Study scheduled for completion later in 2026.

Funding supports feasibility work

Japan Australia Fluorite Associates, the company that owns the Speewah Fluorite Project, has received a further $3 million funding tranche under the Australian Government’s International Partnerships in Critical Minerals program.

The payment is net of GST and forms part of a $7.4 million grant awarded to support feasibility and definitive feasibility work at the Western Australian project. Tivan said $6.4 million of the grant has now been received.

The latest funds will be applied to the project’s Definitive Feasibility Study, which is underway and scheduled to be completed later this year.

Why it matters

The payment gives the Speewah study program additional funding as the project moves through its pre-investment-decision work. It also reflects continued government support for an Australian critical-minerals project linked to international supply-chain partners.

Tivan is progressing the study through an incorporated joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation and the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security, and in partnership with ETFS Capital Limited.

For the mining-services and employment market, the near-term significance lies in continued feasibility engineering, processing, environmental, approvals and project-management activity. The announcement does not represent a final investment decision, construction approval or commitment to a defined operational workforce.

Next steps

The immediate milestone is completion of the Definitive Feasibility Study later in 2026. That work will help define the project’s technical basis and development requirements ahead of any later investment and construction decisions.

Future employment and procurement effects will depend on the study outcome, partner decisions, approvals and financing. No new job numbers or construction commencement date were provided in the announcement.
