MES is currently seeking a Ventilation Engineer to join one of our leading gold-producing clients. This operation boasts a robust and long mine life, with both surface and underground mining activities, alongside ongoing expansions. Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Mine Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adequate ventilation is provided to all underground mining areas across the site.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering;
  • Proven experience using Ventsim software.

Position Duties:

  • Conduct primary and secondary ventilation surveys as required by legislation, and record and report findings to ensure sufficient ventilation for diesel equipment operating in the area;
  • Maintain Ventsim models for each mine site and complete ventilation planning to meet Life of Mine (LOM) requirements;
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the ventilation system, including contributing to ventilation-on-demand projects;
  • Participate in Life of Mine (LOM) planning for underground assets;
  • Maintain registers of all primary and secondary ventilation devices, ensuring that all ventilation and gas measurement equipment is properly calibrated and repaired as needed;
  • Collaborate with the electrical department to ensure ventilation fans are regularly maintained and kept in optimal condition.
