MES is currently seeking a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join our clients underground gold operation. Our client is one of the worlds leading gold producer with a world-class portfolio of assets.
The operation is a long-life, low-cost asset that is currently in phase two of the expansion project expanding the mine life beyond 2040.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in mining engineering;
- Competent using Deswik, Aegus and Ventsim;
- First Class Mine Managers Certificate - not essential but desirable;
- Underground time completed - preferable.
Position Duties:
- Develop and implement optimal underground development, stope designs, and mining methods;
- Monitor day-to-day mining operations to ensure compliance with agreed plans and quality control standards;
- Provide technical input into the underground mining process;
- Plan and oversee the mine's dewatering system;
- Oversee the preparation and optimization of drill and blast plans;
- Coordinate mining engineering activities with production teams, surveyors, geologists, drill and blast teams, and contractors;
- Manage mining activities to ensure production meets short- and long-term planning targets;
- Provide leadership to mining engineers and other technical staff in their day-to-day activities.
