An established underground gold operation in Western Australia is seeking an experienced Alternate Underground Manager to support the safe and effective delivery of underground mining activities. This senior leadership opportunity involves coordinating underground mining activities, ensuring compliance with Western Australian mining safety legislation, and providing leadership across Technical Services and underground operations.
The role reports to the Underground Manager and includes holding the statutory appointment of Alternate Underground Manager.
The role involves:
- Supporting the Underground Manager with the safe and efficient delivery of underground mining activities.
- Providing leadership across Technical Services, including Planning, Projects and Engineering.
- Overseeing the development and execution of the 2–6 month mine plan.
- Identifying operational risks, critical paths and mitigation strategies.
- Leading the development and implementation of underground mine infrastructure strategies.
- Supporting the management of mining contractors and subcontractors.
- Driving safety, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conducting regular underground inspections, audits and risk reviews.
- Mentoring and developing Technical Services personnel.
- Supporting mine budgeting, cost control and capital expenditure planning.
- Reviewing business continuity requirements and critical infrastructure.
- Providing technical guidance across underground production, planning, scheduling, ventilation and mine design.
- Contributing to daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly operational reporting.
About you:
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Mining Engineering.
- WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.
- Previous experience holding a First Class Manager's statutory appointment, preferably as a Deputy or Alternate Underground Manager.
- 6+ years' underground mechanised mining experience.
- 3+ years' experience in a senior leadership or supervisory position.
- Strong underground technical services and operational experience.
- Advanced capability with Deswik CAD and Scheduler.
- Experience with underground production, planning, scheduling, design and ventilation.
- Experience managing underground infrastructure projects.
- Experience with mining budgets, cost control and project expenditure.
- Strong knowledge of WA mining legislation and safety requirements.
- Experience with INX and/or Pronto would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, analytical and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop technical teams.
- A current Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
