An established and high-performing underground gold operation in Western Australia is seeking an experienced Alternate Underground Manager to support the operation in the safe and effective delivery of underground mining activities.
This is a senior leadership opportunity within a long-life, high-grade gold operation with significant ongoing development and growth.
The Role
Reporting to the Underground Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating underground mining activities, supporting the safe delivery of the mine plan and providing leadership across Technical Services and underground operations.
The position also carries the statutory appointment of Alternate Underground Manager, with responsibility for supporting compliance with Western Australian mining safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold the statutory appointment of Alternate Underground Manager.
- Support the Underground Manager with the safe and efficient delivery of underground mining activities.
- Provide leadership across Technical Services, including Planning, Projects and Engineering.
- Oversee the development and execution of the 2โ6 month mine plan.
- Identify operational risks, critical paths and mitigation strategies.
- Lead the development and implementation of underground mine infrastructure strategies.
- Support the management of mining contractors and subcontractors.
- Drive safety, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct regular underground inspections, audits and risk reviews.
- Mentor and develop technical services personnel.
- Support mine budgeting, cost control and capital expenditure planning.
- Review business continuity requirements and critical infrastructure.
- Provide technical guidance across underground production, planning, scheduling, ventilation and mine design.
- Contribute to daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly operational reporting.
About You
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mining Engineering.
- WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.
- Previous experience holding a First Class Manager's statutory appointment, preferably as a Deputy or Alternate Underground Manager.
- 6+ years' underground mechanised mining experience.
- 3+ years' experience in a senior leadership or supervisory position.
- Strong underground technical services and operational experience.
- Advanced capability with Deswik CAD and Scheduler.
- Experience across underground production, planning, scheduling, design and ventilation.
- Experience managing underground infrastructure projects.
- Experience with mining budgets, cost control and project expenditure.
- Strong knowledge of WA mining legislation and safety requirements.
- Experience with INX and/or Pronto would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, analytical and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop technical teams.
- Current Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
