Trek Confirms High-Grade Manganese Discovery at Kuro

6 August 2026 | Western Australia - Trek Metals has confirmed extensive, high-grade and near-surface manganese mineralisation from the first laboratory assays received from its Kuro discovery at the Christmas Creek Project.
The standout result was:
- 13m at 34.9% manganese from 13m, including
- 10m at 42.3% manganese from 13m
The same hole returned a peak one-metre assay of 54.4% manganese, confirming that the high-grade mineralisation observed at surface continues below cover.
Other significant results included:
- 4m at 44.6% manganese from surface
- 11m at 24.0% manganese from 6m, including 4m at 32.3% manganese
- 13m at 19.9% manganese from 24m, including 7m at 28.8% manganese
- 8m at 25.4% manganese from 8m, including 5m at 32.8% manganese
- 11m at 19.3% manganese from 9m, including 3m at 32.7% manganese
Trek said 15 of the first 21 holes returned manganese intervals above a 5% cut-off, with ten holes returning grades above 20%.
Why it matters: All significant intersections reported so far occur between surface and 37m downhole, supporting the potential for a shallow mineralised system.
Early geochemical analysis also showed that samples grading at least 20% manganese averaged 2.7% iron and 0.04% phosphorus. However, Trek cautioned that metallurgical and product-characterisation test work has not yet been completed.
The discovery is supported by induced polarisation geophysics, which Trek says has successfully identified concealed manganese mineralisation beneath shallow sand cover.
Surveying is continuing across an interpreted prospective basin approximately 16km long, while additional earthmoving and drilling preparations are underway at Kuro.
Remaining Phase 1 drilling assays are expected progressively over the next several weeks.
For Western Australia’s critical minerals sector, Kuro is emerging as a significant early-stage manganese discovery, combining high grades, shallow mineralisation and a large regional exploration footprint.
