Our client, a gold explorer and producer, is seeking a Core Logging Geologist to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the Core Logging Geologist will support the ongoing exploration and resource definition activities. The role will suit someone with solid field experience who enjoys working closely with core, maintaining high data quality, and contributing to a busy geology team. You’ll be responsible for core logging, sampling, data entry and general geological support, with the opportunity to broaden your exposure as programmes progress.
Requirments:
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience with geological logging software
- An understanding of Eastern Goldfields geology and Archaean gold lode systems
- An aptitude for exploration concepts and techniques
- Safety conscious mentality and ability to demonstrate it
- Self-motivated, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Able to physically meet the requirement for the position including standing for long time periods and moving core boxes
- Ability to work on a remote site and on a rotation-based schedule
Position Duties:
- Logging key components of resource definition core samples specified by the Senior Geologist at a minimum rate of 100m/day
- Conducting visual logs including mineral identification, alteration, structural analysis & geotechnical properties
- Transcribe findings into computer data handling systems (Geobank)
- Adhering to proper sampling procedures and protocols
- Collaborate & work with the mine geology team to advance projects & understandings
- Assist in the evaluation of all geological data
- Attend meetings and contribute as required
