Our client, a leading gold producer in Western Australia, is urgently seeking an experienced Exploration Geologist for a short-term contract at one of their gold operations in WA's Mid-West region.
Role: near-mine RC programme supporting WGX’s Resource Definition team. You’ll cross-shift with the Senior RD Geologist and take the lead when he’s offsite—supervising graduate field geologists and maintaining rig safety and productivity.
Requirments:
- 4+ years in the field (exploration or near-mine), with strong RC logging experience
- Demonstrated rig supervision and on-site safety leadership
- Confident supervising grads and maintaining high QA/QC standards
- Sound grasp of sampling theory, contamination control and data integrity
- Familiarity with Micromine/Leapfrog/ArcGIS and basic database workflows (e.g. acQuire)
- Able to work a 2/1 FIFO roster (Perth to Cue) and hit the ground running ASAP
- Manual C-Class licence, able to pass a pre-employment medical & drug/alcohol screen
Position Duties:
- RC rig supervision, daily pre-starts and HAZID/JSA leadership
- Detailed RC logging, sampling, QA/QC and chain-of-custody
- Cross-shift handovers to/from the Senior RD Geologist
- On-rig safety oversight and mentoring of graduate geologists
- Coordination of rig moves, pad readiness and consumables
- Daily reporting to site (metres, recovery, issues, samples dispatched)
- Data integrity and timely uploads to site databases (e.g. acQuire)
- Close collaboration with mine geo/grade control for near-mine targets
