A well-established gold mining company is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to lead mine planning activities across short, medium, and long-term horizons. Reporting to the Alternate Underground Manager, this role is responsible for optimising the life of mine strategy and ensuring production targets are met efficiently and cost-effectively.

Safety & Compliance

✔ Adhere to all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and compliance standards.
✔ Promote and participate in safety initiatives, incident reporting, and hazard identification.
✔ Conduct regular workplace inspections and ensure OH&S responsibilities are met.

Leadership & Supervision

✔ Lead and mentor Junior Engineers and Planning Team members.
✔ Monitor and ensure contractor compliance and performance.
✔ Ensure effective personnel management to maximise operational efficiency.

Essential:

Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining or related field).
7+ years’ experience in underground mining operations.
✅ Strong proficiency in Deswik software (Sched, CAD, SO, MDM).
✅ Excellent planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
✅ Strong report writing, communication, and leadership abilities.
WA Class C Driver’s Licence & National Police Clearance (within last 12 months).

Desirable:

First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate.
Senior First Aid Certificate.

Position Duties:

  • Develop and execute 13-week mine plans, stope designs, extraction notes, and strategic planning documents.
  • Manage ventilation models for short- and medium-term planning.
  • Ensure all designs align with geotechnical recommendations and site standards.
  • Prepare and optimise mine reserves, drill and blast plans, and operational reports.
  • Manage onsite mine planning databases (Plodtrack & Livemine).
  • Provide mine planning support and deputise for the Underground Manager as required.
  • Develop and maintain underground budgets, forecasts, and cost models.
  • Conduct gold price sensitivity analysis and assess alternative mining methods.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in mine planning and operations.
