Valiant commissions Comet power station and energises infrastructure

Valiant said the 6.1 MW power station at the Comet Gold Mine in Western Australia’s Murchison region was commissioned on time and within budget. The company said permanent power has enabled primary ventilation fans to become fully operational, while permanent dewatering-system installation and commissioning continue.

The company said the infrastructure work supports its target of first production in the second half of FY27. It expects to complete the Comet Restart Study by the end of the second quarter of FY27, while underground mining and drilling-services tenders are progressing.

Valiant said Comet is 14 km by road from the Tuckabianna Mill and 110 km from the Bluebird Mill, which it said are accessible under its ore purchase agreement with Westgold Resources.
