Westgold targets sustained 2Mtpa mining rate at Beta Hunt from Q2 FY27

Westgold targets sustained 2Mtpa mining rate at Beta Hunt from Q2 FY27

The company said Beta Hunt achieved an annualised 2Mtpa mining rate in September 2026 before its interim primary ventilation system was commissioned. Westgold is targeting sustained performance at that rate from Q2 FY27.

Westgold said it has completed more than 85km of diamond drilling at Beta Hunt over the past two years, adding more than 1.1Moz of reserve at approximately $27/oz, alongside infrastructure upgrades intended to remove operational constraints.

The infrastructure program totals $33.3 million and includes primary and secondary dewatering, water services, surface power and underground power upgrades. The secondary dewatering work was completed in October 2026.

The interim ventilation system was commissioned in late September 2026 and Westgold says it provides sufficient capacity for about two years of mining at 2Mtpa. The company said work on the existing primary ventilation fans remains under way, with vendor rectification and alternative options under review.

Westgold said integrated Southern Goldfields expansion studies are expected to be completed in Q3 FY27. The studies are assessing mining, hoisting, ore-handling and processing options for an expanded operation incorporating Fletcher.
