Fortescue reports 46.8Mt iron ore shipments in Q1 FY27

Fortescue reported total iron ore shipments of 46.8Mt in Q1 FY27, including 2.5Mt from Iron Bridge. Iron ore sales were 42.9Mt, which the company attributed to the impacts of ongoing negotiations with China Mineral Resources Group (CMRG).

Total ore mined was 62.7Mt and total ore processed was 48.8Mt during the quarter, respectively four per cent higher and four per cent lower than in Q1 FY26. Fortescue said planned major maintenance, including port inload and outload shutdown activity, was completed during the period.

The company said product inventory is expected to rise by a further 4Mt to 5Mt in October 2026 as it optimises product placement channels. It said operations may be affected, potentially including production adjustments, if CMRG negotiations are not concluded by the end of the calendar year.

Fortescue maintained FY27 guidance for iron ore shipments of 197Mt to 207Mt, including 11Mt to 14Mt from Iron Bridge on a 100 per cent basis. The company said the guidance remains subject to negotiations with CMRG.
