Osmond completes Orión scoping study for Spanish critical minerals project

The study evaluates an owner-operated underground room-and-pillar mine accessed by decline, paired with a 2Mtpa processing plant. The proposed Module 1 design would use gravity, magnetic, electrostatic and flotation separation, with filtered tailings intended for underground backfill.

Osmond projects an initial nine-year mine life and average annual production of about 42,300 tonnes of rare earth mineral concentrate, 68,000 tonnes of zircon concentrate and 109,000 tonnes of titanium mineral concentrate. These are preliminary scoping-study estimates based on a 15.8Mt mining schedule.

The company said a 13-hole drilling campaign is expected to begin shortly to improve resource confidence and potentially increase the resource. Pre-feasibility testwork is also underway, targeting upgraded zircon, a near-pure rutile stream and upgraded monazite concentrate.

Osmond cautioned that the study is preliminary and is not sufficient to support an Ore Reserve estimate or assure an economic development case. The production target includes Inferred Mineral Resources, which have lower geological confidence.
