AEM forecasts 40-60 tonnes of HPA sales in second half of 2026

AEM forecasts 40-60 tonnes of HPA sales in second half of 2026

In an investor presentation, AEM said its commercially sized Cap-Chat plant can produce high-purity alumina up to 5N purity, including ultra-low alpha material with uranium and thorium below 1 part per billion. The company said plant modifications to produce ultra-low alpha HPA were completed in early 2026.

AEM expects sales to increase significantly to approximately 40 to 60 tonnes in the second half of 2026 and to accelerate in 2027 as qualified customers complete tooling and customers in qualification potentially move into commercial production. The company cautioned that these are forward-looking statements and actual results may differ materially.

The company said its customer qualification pipeline stood at 225 projects at the end of August, including 18 projects in commercial relationships and 38 in advanced industrial trials. AEM said the pipeline is un-risked, is not an order book or contracted revenue, and there is no assurance projects will convert to sales.

AEM said it plans to bring a dedicated 3N5+ HPA circuit into production by the end of 2026, increasing nameplate capacity to 3,000 tonnes per annum. It also outlined a potential Stage 2 expansion to 6,000 tonnes per annum from 2029, subject to completion of a definitive feasibility study, a final investment decision and financing.
