Element 25 Limited has begun early site works at its 100%-owned Butcherbird Expansion Project in Western Australia, moving the project into its first construction phase ahead of the main processing-plant program. The company said the SP1 work package is intended to prepare the site and establish critical infrastructure for later plant construction and commissioning under the project execution plan.
Initial activities cover site clearing, grubbing and bulk earthworks for construction platforms serving the expanded processing plant, run-of-mine infrastructure and supporting facilities. The scope also includes construction and commissioning of a new process-water pond, along with water supply, pumping and pipeline infrastructure for construction and future operations.
Element 25 will relocate and reinstate existing water services, including bore-field pipeline connections and standpipe facilities. Existing administration and support facilities are also to be relocated, while new transportable offices, amenities and other non-process infrastructure will be installed. Preliminary site services include power, communications, potable water, wastewater, roads and drainage. The existing process-water pond is scheduled for decommissioning and rehabilitation after the replacement facility has been successfully commissioned.
The company said the early works are designed to reduce execution risk and leave construction-ready areas for major contracts. Its tender process for the main CSMP and E&I work package is well advanced, with contract award expected in line with the overall project plan.
Completion of SP1 is intended to support the subsequent development of an expanded 1.1 million-tonne-per-annum manganese concentrate operation and the planned recommencement of production at Butcherbird. Element 25 did not announce any new roles or vacancies as part of the release.
