Catalyst Metals reported on 9 September 2026 that the Mineral Resource at its operating Keillor gold mine, on the Plutonic Gold Belt in Western Australia, had increased by about 280% as mine ramp-up continued.
The updated estimate contains 3.2 million tonnes grading 3.0 grams per tonne gold for 307,000 ounces. This compares with the previous estimate of 81,000 ounces at 3.6 grams per tonne gold, which was based largely on drilling completed before 2000.
Underground resource drives the increase
The updated underground component totals 2.7 million tonnes at 3.3 grams per tonne for 285,000 ounces. A further 500,000 tonnes at 1.3 grams per tonne for 21,000 ounces is classified as an open-pit resource.
Catalyst said approximately 30,000 metres of underground drilling had informed the new estimate and helped de-risk the immediate mine plan. The indicated portion of the underground resource increased to 187,000 ounces.
Mine ramp-up continues
Mining at Keillor began in the June 2026 quarter, with first stoping ore transported approximately 40 kilometres to the central Plutonic processing plant. Ramp-up is progressing in line with the company’s plan and is expected to continue for the remainder of 2026.
Multiple mining fronts have been established on the main and west lodes, and grade-control drilling covering the first 15 months of production has been completed. Further resource-development drilling is planned at the east lode.
Catalyst has also introduced a short-term contracted paste-plant operation to support extraction of the high-grade resource. Recent metallurgical work reported gold recovery above 92%, including gravity recovery above 40%.
Reserve update is next
An updated Keillor Ore Reserve is expected in the coming weeks. Catalyst anticipates that the larger resource will extend the mine beyond its initial three-year life and contribute to its broader plan to increase reserves and production across the Plutonic Gold Belt.
The combination of underground development, grade-control and resource drilling, paste-fill activity and ongoing ramp-up provides a clear operational work program. It may support future workforce planning across underground mining, geology and technical services, although no specific vacancies were announced.
