Eclipse testwork defines NdPr beneficiation pathway at Grønnedal

Eclipse Metals announced on 3 September 2026 that mineralogical testwork has identified a potential beneficiation pathway for neodymium and praseodymium mineralisation at the Grønnedal deposit in southwest Greenland.

Grønnedal forms part of Eclipse's Ivigtût critical-minerals project. The latest work was completed by ALS Metallurgy on four composite samples from the company's 2025 resource-definition drilling program.

NdPr concentrated in identifiable mineral groups

Automated mineralogical analysis found that 87.5 to 94.3 per cent of the contained neodymium and praseodymium was hosted in identified rare-earth-bearing mineral groups across the four samples.

Between 77.2 and 92.6 per cent was hosted in the two principal groups selected for further flotation testing: rare-earth fluorocarbonates and rare-earth carbonates. Eclipse interprets the main assemblage as being dominated by synchysite and calcioancylite-type minerals, with subordinate bastnäsite, parisite, monazite and xenotime.

At the tested grind size, 63 to 75 per cent of the fluorocarbonates and 61 to 79 per cent of the carbonates had at least 30 per cent exposed mineral surface. Eclipse emphasised that these figures describe mineral deportment and surface exposure, not flotation recoveries or concentrate grades.

Processing objective now more clearly defined

The work identified selective rejection of carbonate gangue as the principal processing challenge. Eclipse has engaged Tetra Tech to support testwork and process design, with the next phase to examine rougher and cleaner flotation, regrinding, reagent optimisation and subsequent leach trials.

Earlier density and magnetic separation work indicated that staged physical separation could reject part of the feed mass before leaching, potentially reducing the load on downstream processing. Further testing is required to determine recoveries and product quality.

Project and workforce context

Grønnedal has a Mineral Resource of 208 million tonnes at 0.72 per cent total rare-earth oxides, including approximately 456,000 tonnes of neodymium and praseodymium oxides. The deposit is near maritime infrastructure and deep-water access, subject to future infrastructure assessment and permitting.

The next stage is laboratory and engineering work rather than a construction commitment. It may shape future requirements in metallurgy, mineral processing, testwork, process design and project development, but Eclipse has not announced vacancies.
