Javelin Minerals announced on 3 September 2026 that diamond drilling has commenced at the Coogee Gold-Copper Project, 55 kilometres south-east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
The program will test two large, deep magnetic targets at Coogee North and Coogee West. A diamond rig operated by Kalgoorlie-based Westralian Diamond Drilling has started the first hole at Coogee North, with the second hole to follow at Coogee West.
Two deep targets to be tested
Javelin plans to drill two holes over approximately five to six weeks. Each hole is designed to reach between 800 and 1,000 metres, targeting the source of modelled magnetic anomalies associated with gold-copper mineralisation.
The company said historic shallow drilling had identified gold and copper anomalism near both targets, but the deeper magnetic bodies had not previously been drill-tested. At Coogee North, the anomaly sits beneath much of the existing gold-copper Mineral Resource.
The program is being co-funded through the Western Australian Government's Exploration Incentive Scheme.
Established resource provides project context
Coogee is located on a granted Mining Lease and has an existing Mineral Resource of approximately 3.65 million tonnes at 1.08 grams per tonne gold for about 127,000 ounces. A separate copper zone contains approximately 1.0 million tonnes at 0.41 per cent copper for about 4,100 tonnes of contained copper.
The current drilling is exploration-focused and is intended to determine whether the deep anomalies provide a geological source or extension to the shallower mineralisation. Results will guide any follow-up drilling and future resource evaluation.
What the program could mean operationally
The active campaign brings immediate field activity to the project, including diamond drilling, geological supervision, core handling, sampling, logistics and assay support. Javelin has not announced vacancies, and any broader workforce requirements will depend on results and subsequent work programs.
Javelin said it will update the market as the drilling program progresses.
