Gateway Mining has reported a significant fresh-rock gold discovery at the Cowza prospect within its Yandal Gold Project in Western Australia, after the first effective reverse-circulation hole into the target returned a broad mineralised interval with a high-grade core.
Hole CZRC057 intersected 41 metres at 2.0 grams per tonne gold from 104 metres, including nine metres at 7.5 grams per tonne from 105 metres. Gateway said the result validates the target developed from its 2026 aircore program and confirms primary mineralisation beneath the oxide footprint.
First effective fresh-rock test delivers
CZRC057 was drilled beneath an earlier aircore intercept of eight metres at 1.9 grams per tonne gold. The new result is hosted along a sheared contact between mafic and intermediate volcanic units, a structural setting Gateway considers important for gold mineralisation in this part of the Yandal Belt.
The company said the high-grade core showed strong internal grade continuity rather than isolated spikes. Mineralisation is associated with quartz-carbonate veining, silica-sericite alteration and disseminated sulphides.
Target extends over 4.5 kilometres
Systematic aircore drilling has defined continuous oxide gold mineralisation along about 4.5 kilometres of the Cowza structure, which remains open to the north and south. Numerous aircore results of a similar tenor to the precursor hole for CZRC057 remain untested in fresh rock.
A second RC hole, CZRC054, was collared too far east and did not effectively test the main contact. It nevertheless returned 52 metres at 0.3 grams per tonne gold from 44 metres, which Gateway said showed the broader system remained anomalous for at least another two kilometres to the north. Follow-up drilling is planned from a position farther west.
Broader corridor offers scale
Cowza forms part of a larger emerging corridor that also includes Celia South and Ward. Together, the three structures account for more than 13 kilometres of mineralised strike along the same lithological contact, almost all of which remains untested by RC or diamond drilling.
Chief Executive Officer Richard Pugh described the result as an outstanding validation of the team's targeting. RC drilling is continuing at Cowza, and diamond rigs are scheduled to arrive later in September.
Gateway has also liquidated its portfolio of listed securities, generating gross proceeds of $8.23 million to support the ongoing exploration program.
Project snapshot
The Yandal Gold Project covers about 1,780 square kilometres on the eastern side of the Yandal Greenstone Belt, approximately 50 kilometres north-east of Northern Star Resources' Jundee mill.
