Mining Employment Services (MES) is seeking a Project Mine Geologist to play a key role in delivering maximum ore grade to the processing plant through accurate ore tracking and reporting.

In this position, you’ll also contribute to the design and execution of diamond drill programs that add value to existing resources and support the discovery and development of future ore bodies — all with the aim of extending the Life of Mine.

Role requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology (minimum degree).
  • Minimum three (3) years' geology experience in an underground mining environment, preferably within the gold sector.
  • Experience with mining/geology software packages such as Leapfrog, Datamine, Vulcan and Acquire.
  • Experience of drill rig management and exposure to geological modelling and wireframing.
  • Current unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence.

Position Duties:

  • Provide training and mentorship to Graduate Geologists, Mine Geologists and Geology Technicians.
  • Tracking underground material movements to ensure the accurate reporting of daily, weekly, monthly ore haulage and surface stockpile balances. Reconciliation of stopes and development to drive performance and compliance.
  • Coordinate the collection of underground samples and actively complete backs mapping where required, to improve the understanding of the controls on mineralisation.
  • Design, schedule and execute diamond drill programs to ensure the collection of timely and accurate grade control data. Liaise and clearly communicate plan with all stakeholders.
  • Oversee the analysis, interpretation and modelling of mineralisation, lithology, structure and alterations, by utilising all available data.
  • Contribute to mine planning reviews and identify risks and opportunities for the business.
  • Assist with producing high quality geological logging of GC diamond core.
