Wiluna said a carbon-in-leach tank ruptured on 25 July, spilling slurry into the plant containment bund and processing area. The company said the spill was contained, with no impact on the adjacent environment and no injuries reported.
Following its assessment of the remaining CIL tanks, required capital expenditure, potential restart timing and longer-term strategy, Wiluna said it decided not to reinstate the tank or resume tailings reprocessing. Surface and tailings reprocessing operations were suspended, and anticipated third-party ore tolling activities were deferred.
Before the rupture, Wiluna processed 185,529 dry metric tonnes of tailings during the September quarter, producing 1,868 ounces of gold at an average recovery of 34%. After the quarter, the company said it completed a A$180 million IPO, began ASX trading on 22 October 2026 and repaid its remaining A$40 million secured debt.
