Southern Palladium updates Bengwenyama PFS valuation to US$1.96bn

Southern Palladium updates Bengwenyama PFS valuation to US$1.96bn

Southern Palladium announced results of its 2026 Modular Prefeasibility Study Update for the 70%-owned Bengwenyama PGM-chrome project on South Africa’s Bushveld Complex.

The company said the updated study retains a staged development plan, with Stage 1 mining 100,000 tonnes per month from the South Decline and Stage 2 increasing throughput to 200,000 tonnes per month through the North Decline and a second processing module. The life-of-mine plan remains 41.9 million tonnes at 6.54 g/t 6E.

Southern Palladium attributed the revised economics in part to updated DFS-level metallurgical work, capital and operating costs, and commodity-price and exchange-rate forecasts. It said chromite recovery increased to 85.6%, while life-of-mine 6E recovery rose to 87.5%.

The company cautioned that about 30% of tonnes in the life-of-mine plan are Inferred Mineral Resources, for which geological confidence is lower. It also said the Updated PFS is prepared to prefeasibility accuracy and its conclusions are not certain to be realised.
