Southern Cross Gold reports Sunday Creek decline progress, licence application acceptance

Resources Victoria accepted Mining Licence Application MIN009040 on September 22, 2026, covering about 30.7 hectares of company-owned freehold land over the historic Golden Dyke workings at Sunday Creek. Southern Cross said the acceptance is an initial step in the approvals process and does not itself permit mining.

The company said exploration decline development had reached 435.5 metres by the end of September, out of approximately 1,131 metres planned. It attributed slower-than-planned August advance rates to poor ground conditions and forecast completion in January 2027, compared with its previous December 2026 forecast; it said development costs remained within budget.

During the August quarter, Southern Cross said 12 surface rigs drilled 17,564 metres under its 200,000-metre program, and its board approved underground drilling contracts. The company said the program was continuing with an aim of announcing a maiden resource in the first quarter of calendar 2027.
