St Barbara said the New Simberi Gold Expansion Project in Papua New Guinea reached final investment decision for a US$333 million development. The company said the decision followed approval of the Simberi mining lease extension to 2038, Kumul Minerals Holdings’ agreement to acquire a 20% interest, and Lingbao Gold Group’s A$389 million strategic investment.
The company reported that New Simberi Gold produced 48,395 ounces in FY26 at an all-in sustaining cost of A$4,829 per ounce. St Barbara said processing improvements were achieved during the period and mining activity increased with the addition of new fleet.
In Nova Scotia, St Barbara said the pre-feasibility study for the 15-Mile Processing Hub indicated a production profile of about 100,000 ounces per year for more than 10 years. The company said its board approved progression to feasibility study and the start of permitting; the outcome remains subject to development and permitting risks.
St Barbara also reported that the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change approved amendments to permit conditions for the Touquoy Restart project to process remaining low- and medium-grade ore stockpiles. The company expects the project to begin processing ore by the end of calendar 2026.
