BHM reports record quarterly silver output and ore throughput

Broken Hill Mines said it processed 129,084 tonnes of ore during the September 2026 quarter, up 8.2% quarter-on-quarter and 10.1% year-on-year. The company said the throughput equated to an annualised rate of 516,000 tonnes and was its highest quarterly result since June 2020. Silver production was 102,922 ounces, up 7.4% from the preceding quarter and 148% year-on-year, which BHM described as its highest since June 2022.

Lead production was 2,381 tonnes, up 0.2% quarter-on-quarter, while zinc production was 3,024 tonnes, down 9.2% quarter-on-quarter. BHM said Pinnacles open-pit operations were ramping up and that it had exposed its first full bench of clean, high-grade Pinnacles ore, with mining and trucking to the Rasp plant underway.

BHM said it expects quarterly average silver, lead and zinc grades to increase as additional Pinnacles and Main Lode ore is fed to the plant, with potential gold and copper credits. The company said its tailings dewatering plant remained on budget and schedule for availability in the first half of calendar 2027, supporting its stated pathway toward full utilisation of the 750,000-tonne-per-annum Rasp plant.

The company said Main Lode and Pinnacles were both online as additional ore feeds to the Rasp plant. It also said drilling and development had progressed at Centenary, which BHM described as a major new bulk-tonnage discovery and a potential fourth ore feed, with further drilling results and an Exploration Target expected in the near term.
