We are seeking Core Yard/Sample Technicians to join an established gold mining operation in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields. This role offers two FIFO rosters from Perth: starting on 22 October or 29 October, both featuring an 8 days on, 6 days off arrangement. You will primarily work in the core yard, handling approximately 70% of the tasks there and the remaining 30% focused on MOP and toll-treatment sampling at the ROM. These casual contracts run from October 2026 to the end of January 2027, with the possibility of extension for strong performers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing and preparing diamond drill core
- Performing core orientation, metre marking, photography and recoveries
- Conducting magnetic susceptibility, RQD and density measurements
- Core cutting, sampling and sample preparation
- Handling RC and diamond drill samples
- Collecting and preparing MOP and toll-treatment samples
- Completing QA/QC requirements and maintaining sample documentation
- Preparing sample dispatches and managing accurate registers
- Organising and storing sample bags and core trays
- Maintaining a clean, safe core yard
- Assisting the geology team with other duties as required
About you:
You will be a practical and physically fit individual, comfortable with hands-on work. Strong attention to detail is essential, especially for accurate sampling, labelling and record keeping.
Essential requirements include:
- Previous mine-site core yard or geological sampling experience
- Experience processing RC and/or diamond drill samples
- Understanding of sampling procedures and QA/QC requirements
- Current WA C-class manual driver’s licence
- Strong safety focus
- Ability to complete repetitive manual-handling tasks
- Reliability and team focus, available for an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth
Highly regarded experience includes:
- Previous gold mining experience
- MOP, ROM or toll-treatment sampling experience
- Experience in core cutting and core orientation
- Possessing a Forklift or other High Risk Work Licence
- Work experience in an open-pit mining or exploration environment.
This position would suit experienced Core Yard Technicians, Field Assistants, Geological Technicians or Sample Preparation Technicians seeking a short-term FIFO opportunity, with the potential for continuation.
